28 year old Shakiel Singh Basra arrested in ongoing gang conflict, facing firearms charges

  • 28 year old Shakiel Singh Basra arrested in ongoing gang conflict, facing firearms charges

Surrey RCMP is advising the public that a 28-year-old man involved in gang and organized crime-related violence was arrested and remains in custody.

On Wednesday, at approximately 4:15 p.m., Shakiel Singh Basra and an associate were arrested by Surrey RCMP. 

Shakiel Singh Basra was one of 11 individuals named in a public warning issued by Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia (CFSEU-BC) on August 3rd, due to the significant risk they pose to public safety. 

“Shakiel Basra has been the subject of several public warnings over many years due to his involvement in criminal activity,” says Constable Sarbjit Sangha, Surrey RCMP Media Relations Officer. “He is now facing new firearms charges in relation to his arrest on August 31.”

Shakiel Singh Basra has been charged with possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm and possession contrary to order. He has been remanded into custody and is awaiting his next court date.
