28-Yr-Old Surrey Man Charged After North Delta Road Rage With Bear Spray

Darpan News Desk, 09 Aug, 2018 11:10 AM
A Surrey man has been charged after an altercation on the 11200 block of 72nd Avenue in Delta.

Delta Police were called to a dispute in North Delta around 9:15 pm, August 5. Upon investigation police determined that two vehicles had been travelling eastbound on 72nd Avenue.

Both vehicles had pulled over, as a result of an apparent driving dispute, involving allegations of tailgating and high-beaming.

The passenger of a Volkswagen vehicle is suspected to have exited the car, and then bear sprayed the occupants of a Dodge vehicle.

A further occupant of the Volkswagen vehicle then got out of the vehicle. However, during this process he is believed to have stepped into oncoming traffic, and was struck by an oncoming Ford truck. The driver of the Ford truck immediately stopped the vehicle and called 9-1-1.

Emergency Health Services arrived and transported the man to hospital. He is believed to have received life-threatening injuries.

Mahamed Halane, age 28, of Surrey, BC has now been charged with one count of assault with a weapon. He has been released on conditions and will next appear in court on August 21, 2018.
