2-Year-Old Langley, B.C., Girl Reported Missing Found In Backyard Pond, Declared Dead

The Canadian Press, 07 Feb, 2016 02:58 PM
LANGLEY, B.C. — A two-year-old girl found in the backyard pond of a home in Langley, B.C., has died.

The Mounties say they were notified around 3 p.m. on Saturday that a toddler had gone missing while playing with other children in the yard of a five-acre, rural property.

Police, firefighters and search-and-rescue crews scoured the area until discovering her body after draining a three-foot-deep pond.

The girl was taken to the B.C. Children's Hospital in Vancouver where she was declared dead.

Langley RCMP Sgt. Garth Huziak calls the incident a very regrettable tragedy and says there is no suspicion of foul play.

The girl's name has not been released.
