3 people dead in a crash in BC's Interior, 2 people were seniors from Vancouver

On Friday morning at approximately 8:30 AM, Vernon/North Okanagan RCMP and Emergency Services attended to a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 97 just south of the Vernon Cadet Camp.

Via release, police say it was a southbound pickup, described as a red GMC, entered the opposite lane and crashed with an oncoming vehicle. The red pickup then collided with a second oncoming vehicle, a black Toyota SUV.

Two seniors from Vancouver, a 71 year old man and a 65 year old woman died on the spot. The driver of the pickup truck was taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.

Impaired driving is suspected as a contributing cause to this collision.

In another crash, on Friday at around 2:45am, Princeton RCMP and Emergency Services were at the scene of a single vehicle collision on Highway 3 east of Princeton near Bromley Rock.

Police say, a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck with two occupants left the highway, went down an embankment and entered the Similkameen River where it partially submerged. A 19 year-old woman from the South Okanagan, died as a result of the collision. The second occupant, a 38 year-old man, was not injured.

Impaired driving is suspected as a contributing cause to this crash as well. 

Anyone with more information about these crashes is asked to call the RCMP.

The vehicle, described as a Black Jeep Cherokee was travelling northbound on Boundary Road prior to the collision. The driver, and sole occupant was pronounced dead on scene.

The driver of the motorcycle has been transported to a local area hospital with serious injuries. Blundell Rd and No 4 Rd will be closed in all directions for an undetermined period of time.

A white Nissan Rogue was driving Westbound on Steveston Hwy when a cyclist, heading North on Railway Ave, entered the intersection. The cyclist suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local area hospital. The cyclist remains in hospital.
