33-Year-Old Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit By Car In East Vancouver

    Vancouver Police are investigating the city’s sixth pedestrian fatality of 2019, after a 33-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle during the evening rush hour yesterday.


    The pedestrian, a Vancouver resident, was crossing the street near East 49th Avenue and Tyne Street when he was struck by a Suzuki station wagon shortly after 6 p.m.

     

    The driver was traveling east on 49th Avenue when it appears the pedestrian ran into the street and was struck.


    Witnesses stopped and provided medical assistance until police and paramedics arrived, however the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, a 25-year-old Vancouver man, stopped after the collision and is cooperating with the police investigation.
