37-Yr-Old Surrey Man Harpreet Gill Charged After Driving Toward Oncoming Traffic Downtown

Darpan News Desk, 26 Jun, 2019 07:09 PM

Vancouver Police arrested an erratic driver, believed to be impaired, after he drove toward oncoming traffic and pedestrian’s downtown. Fortunately, no one was injured.

Just before 10:00 p.m. last night, officers responded to several 9-1-1 calls regarding a grey Toyota Camry driving toward pedestrians at a bus stop near West Georgia and Granville. Witnesses also saw the Camry drive towards oncoming traffic before leaving the area.

A witness followed the vehicle, as the driver continued to drive dangerously, and provided important updates to 9-1-1 dispatchers, which were relayed to responding officers.

Officers were able to locate the Camry a short time later on Main Street near National, and used their police vehicles to box it in and safely prevent the driver from taking off.

The lone occupant and driver of the Camry, Harpreet Gill, a 37-year-old Surrey man, is now charged with dangerous driving. Additional charges related to impaired driving are anticipated.

All vehicles involved had little to no damage and Gill remains in custody.
