5-Car Crash In Port Coquitlam Started With Police Car Colliding With Another Vehicle: Police

    On Saturday November 30, 2019 just prior to 5:47 pm a Coquitlam police officer was responding with emergency lights and sirens to an incident.


    While en route to the scene, a collision occurred with a vehicle while passing through the intersection of Lougheed Highway and Westwood Street in the City of Coquitlam.


    This collision caused three other vehicles to be struck as a result of the first impact between the police car and the other involved vehicle. No one that was involved in the collision was seriously injured and there is currently no evidence of impaired or distracted driving.


    To ensure a proper thorough investigation for all parties, the Criminal Collision Investigation Team and the Independent Investigations Office was called out to take charge of the investigation. Everyone is cooperating with the police.


    If anyone has dash camera footage or witnessed the collision first hand, please call the Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 and ask for Constable Bauldry of the Criminal Collision Investigation Team.


    The Coquitlam RCMP would like to use this unfortunate event to remind the public to always be aware that emergency vehicles could be passing through intersections at any time. Regardless of what colour intersection light you have, always be aware of hazards. Both legitimate or otherwise.
