60-year-old BC woman charged with murder of 61-year-old Burnaby resident

    A second degree murder charge has been laid against a 60-year-old BC woman for murdering a 61-year-old Christina Docherty.

    Docherty, a Burnaby resident was killed on Dec. 2, 2013 at her apartment in the 4900 block of Hastings Street, and officers have not yet revealed how she died. However, it is being reported that at the time, Docherty was known to them and foul play was immediately suspected.

    Trudy Hunter, 60, was arrested in Maple Ridge on Friday and will be presented in provincial court in Vancouver today.

    "While this investigation is now before the Courts I can confirm that it was connected to the drug trade and was not a random act," said Integrated Homicide Investigation Team Sgt. Jennifer Pound.
