As of Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2022, 90.4% (4,507,718) of eligible people five and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 85.4% (4,256,399) have received their second dose.

In addition, 93.1% (4,316,886) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, 90.5% (4,195,685) received their second dose and 53.3% (2,468,653) have received a third dose.

Also, 93.5% (4,043,352) of all eligible adults in B.C. have received their first dose, 91.0% (3,934,464) received their second dose and 55.7% (2,410,836) have received a third dose.

B.C. is reporting 750 new cases of COVID-19, including three epi-linked cases, for a total of 342,282 cases in the province.

The new cases include:

  • Fraser Health: 167
  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 93
  • Interior Health: 277
  • Northern Health: 108
  • Island Health: 105
  • People who reside outside of Canada: zero

There are 762 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19 and 121 are in intensive care.

In the past 24 hours, 11 new deaths have been reported, for an overall total of 2,777.

The new deaths include:

  • Fraser Health: five
  • Interior Health: one
  • Northern Health: two
  • Island Health: three

There have been no new health-care facility outbreaks. The outbreaks at Queen’s Park Care Centre (Fraser Health), Arrowsmith Lodge and Woodgrove Manor (Island Health) have been declared over, for a total of 36 facilities with ongoing outbreaks, including:

  • long-term care:
    • Good Samaritan Delta View Care Centre (Fraser Health)
    • Village at Smith Creek, Pinegrove Care Centre, Mount Ida Mews, Dr. Andrew Pavillion, Poplar Ridge, Noric House, Glenmore Lodge, Trinity Care Centre, Ponderosa, Castleview Care Centre, Overlander Residential Care (Interior Health)
    • Wexford Creek, Sidney Care Home, Eden Gardens, Kiwanis Village Lodge, Dufferin Place, Salvation Army Sunset Lodge, James Bay Care Centre, Sunset Lodge, Amica on the Gorge, Tsawaayuus Rainbow Gardens, Berwick on The Lake, Chemainus Health Care Centre, Selkirk Seniors Village, Sunridge Place, Nanaimo Seniors Village, Sluggett House, Glacier View Lodge, Rest Haven Lodge, Sidney All Care and The Heights at Mt. View (Island Health)
  • acute care:
    • Queen's Park Care Centre (Fraser Health); and
    • Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (Island Health)
  • assisted or independent living:
    • Chartwell Langley Gardens (Fraser Health); and
    • Nicola Meadows (Interior Health)

From Feb. 8-14, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 22.8% of cases and from Feb. 1-14 they accounted for 32.1% of hospitalizations.

Past week cases (Feb. 8-14) - Total 6,435

  • Not vaccinated: 1,207 (18.8%)
  • Partially vaccinated: 258 (4.0%)
  • Fully vaccinated: 4,970 (77.2%)

Past two weeks cases hospitalized (Feb. 1-14) - Total 954

  • Not vaccinated: 267 (28.0%)
  • Partially vaccinated: 39 (4.1%)
  • Fully vaccinated: 648 (67.9%)

Past week, cases per 100,000 population after adjusting for age (Feb. 8-14)

  • Not vaccinated: 288.1
  • Partially vaccinated: 97.1
  • Fully vaccinated: 109.8

Past two weeks, cases hospitalized per 100,000 population after adjusting for age (Feb. 1-14)

  • Not vaccinated: 72.1
  • Partially vaccinated: 32.9
  • Fully vaccinated: 13.8

Since December 2020, the Province has administered 11,176,710 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Pfizer Pediatric COVID-19 vaccines.

There are currently 4,301 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, and 203,375 people who tested positive have recovered. Of the active cases, 426 individuals are currently in hospital and 124 are in intensive care. The remaining people are recovering at home in self-isolation.
