A group of South Asian grandmothers were targeted with racist insults at Aspen park on July 28 in Surrey by a Caucasian couple.
Apart from having racist remarks hurled at them garbage was also thrown at them and at the kids at the park.
Sahiba Sangha decided to look into the incident further when her grandmother came home and she realized something was not right.
She got hold of the video where the incident was caught on tape and posted it to social media.

According to Sangha when Surrey RCMP responded to the siutation the grandmothers who were targeted couldn't explain in English what had happened as they can only speak Punjabi. Sangha also said the grandchildren were not heard by the police when they tried to explain what happened with and a neighbour who stopped by to translate was neglected by the police. Sangha is wondering if the Mounties have done enought due diligence in relation to the matter.
There has been no comment from the Surrey RCMP. South Asian politicians have expressed their anger in regards to the race related incident. MP Sukh Dhaliwal, Rachna Singh, Minister of Defence Harjit Sajjan all showed their concern via a Twitter post.
2/3 This kind of hate is shocking, and it must be combatted by all of us here in Newton, and across the country where incidents are emerging every day— Sukh Dhaliwal (@sukhdhaliwal) August 2, 2021
Stand up if you see this happening to others. Do not be a bystander#cdnpoli #bcpoli #SurreyBC
3/3 We cannot allow this kind of discriminations and prejudice take hold in a place as multicultural as this community and our country as a whole— Sukh Dhaliwal (@sukhdhaliwal) August 2, 2021
I will have more to report as details emerge#cdnpoli #bcpoli #SurreyBC
No, this is not shocking. We have seen a rise in hateful and racist attacks during the pandemic but the racism has always been there—pandemic or not. This cannot continue. We must all take action and speak up against this. https://t.co/jpRthz7Qi4— Rachna Singh (@RachnaSinghNDP) August 2, 2021
