Abbotsford girl, 5, dies after car accident

Darpan News Desk Darpan, 29 May, 2014 11:07 AM
A five-year-old girl who was hit by a car last week in Abbotsford, BC, died in hospital after succumbing to her injuries.

The girl was struck on the 31500 block of the Blueridge Drive when she ran into the laneway behind the houses.

The five-year-old was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries.

Police also told media that the driver remained at the scene and has been cooperating with the police.

"This was a hugely horrific and terrifying incident to have occurred and at the end of the day all of the parties involved were neighbours, so certainly there was a lot of hope there would be a recovery in hospital," said Const. Ian MacDonald with the Abbotsford Police Department.

"But unfortunately now, we as a community are now coming to terms with dealing with this tragedy."

Meanwhile, no charges have been laid in the case yet.
