Abbotsford Police Issue Warning After Gang Violence Escalates

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 25 Feb, 2017 04:26 PM
Abbotsford police have issued a warning of continuing gang conflicts in the Lower Mainland that are impacting public safety.

Police say its increasingly likely that the people who are taking part in the conflicts will become victims of violence.

They say those affiliated with gangs are also putting other people in their lives - like friends and family - at risk.

Although this may appear to be commonsense advice, police say they believe that now it could also be a life-saving decision that we need you to make.

“When incidents of violence take place on our streets, it puts innocent members of our communities at risk, and when you associate with individuals with ties to organized crime, not only do you jeopardize the safety and security of the public, but also that of your own life,” says S/Sgt. Lindsey Houghton of the CFSEU-BC.

“The CFSEU-BC is always working closely with our policing partners in the lower mainland, and throughout the province, to deter gang members and diminish the level of violence before it escalates.”

Given the escalating situation, Abbotsford police are encouraging anyone with information to call their Gang Tip Line or Crime Stoppers.
