Accused In Saskatchewan Shooting To Be In Court As School Reopens Its Doors

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 22 Feb, 2016 11:09 AM
LA LOCHE, Canada — Teachers have returned to a northern Saskatchewan school that was the site of a deadly shooting, but the front entrance to the building remains closed.

Education Minister Don Morgan says about a dozen teachers from elsewhere in the province are at the La Loche high school to help returning teachers adjust.

He also says repairs have been made and parts of the school will be used by counsellors to help students cope as they gradually resume classes.

A teacher and an aide were killed and seven other people were wounded at the school, while teenage brothers were found dead in a nearby home.

Morgan, who toured the school, says it was a difficult walk that  made him think about why the shooting happened Jan. 22.

A 17-year-old boy who is charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder is scheduled to appear in court in Meadow Lake this afternoon.
