Darpan News Desk Canadian Press, 22 Sep, 2014 01:40 PM

HALIFAX - One of the accused in a prominent child pornography case in Halifax that made national headlines has pleaded guilty to one of the charges against him.

The accused, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, pleaded guilty today in youth court to making child pornography.

The second charge against him, distributing child pornography, was dropped by the Crown.

The accused, now 20, is scheduled to return to court on Nov. 13 for sentencing.

The victim, a teenaged girl, died last year following a suicide attempt.

Her name is protected by a mandatory publication ban that prohibits the identification of victims in child pornography cases.

Another accused also faces a charge of distributing child pornography.
