The City of Vancouver has activated additional emergency shelters through Monday night as temperatures drop below zero overnight.
Environment Canada forecasted a low of minus two on Sunday in the city and a low of zero for today.
Due to an extreme weather alert with temperatures at or below 0°C, additional shelter spaces will be open tonight Monday, Jan. 20 ⬇️

At the same time, a wind chill of minus seven was expected Sunday night and a wind chill of minus eight is expected this morning.
Criteria for the city's extreme weather alert system includes when temperatures are at or below zero degrees, or feel that way with wind chill.
