    The City of Vancouver has activated additional emergency shelters through Monday night as temperatures drop below zero overnight.

    Environment Canada forecasted a low of minus two on Sunday in the city and a low of zero for today.

    At the same time, a wind chill of minus seven was expected Sunday night and a wind chill of minus eight is expected this morning.

    Criteria for the city's extreme weather alert system includes when temperatures are at or below zero degrees, or feel that way with wind chill.

    B.C. prison announces $287,000 seizure of contraband, from cellphones to steroids
    Prison officials in British Columbia say they've seized a large stash of contraband, including steroids and cellphones, smuggled into a maximum security institution outside Vancouver last week. Kim MacPherson, an assistant warden at Kent Institution, says the seizure was made on Aug. 24 thanks to staff vigilance.
