Air Canada Flight To Vancouver Diverted To Toronto Due To Pressurization Problem

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 30 Jan, 2016 12:59 PM
TORONTO — Air Canada says a flight bound for Vancouver from Newark, New Jersey was diverted to Toronto Friday evening because of a pressurization problem linked to an air conditioning unit.

The airline says in a Twitter post that Flight AC549 landed without incident and that arrangements were being made for the passengers to continue on to Vancouver on various flights.

A spokeswoman for the airline says the Airbus A319 had 107 passengers on board.

Angela Mah said the plane descended to 10,000 feet from its cruising altitude when the pressure dropped and the crew followed "standard procedures."

A photo taken inside the cabin of the aircraft that was posted on Twitter showed oxygen masks hanging from their overhead compartments.

A tweet from a man who says he was a passenger on the plane praised the crew for the job they did.
