Alberta Moves Budget Balance Date Back A Year, Red Ink Now To Be Gone By 2020

Darpan News Desk IANS, 21 Oct, 2015 12:55 PM
EDMONTON — Alberta's finance minister is rolling back the date on balancing the budget.

Joe Ceci says the NDP government will not balance the budget until the 2019-2020 fiscal year due to the long-term slump in oil prices.

That's a year later than Premier Rachel Notley promised in the spring election.

Ceci says other promises made in the campaign will be honoured.

The budget will be delivered on Tuesday as the fall session of the legislature gets underway.

Ceci has already said this year's budget deficit will be about $6 billion.
