Alberta Premier Says Manmeet Bhullar Was Man Of 'energy, Youth, Passion'

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 24 Nov, 2015 01:08 PM
EDMONTON — The Alberta legislature was to hold only a brief session today before adjourning until Wednesday when members will offer tributes to an opposition Conservative MLA killed in a highway accident.

Manmeet Bhullar, who was 35, was injured Monday afternoon when he was struck by a semi while helping a motorist whose car had flipped on the Queen Elizabeth II Highway north of Red Deer.

He was taken to hospital where he died.

Premier Rachel Notley, speaking during a teleconference call from Ottawa, says she is deeply saddened by Bhullar's death.

Notley says whether in government or in opposition, the member for Calgary-Greenway was always very committed and very capable.

The premier says Bhullar was a man of energy, youth and passion, and likely had a long career in public life ahead of him.
