Surrey RCMP are investigating following a shooting in the Whalley area overnight.

On Tuesday, at approximately 2:20 a.m., Surrey RCMP received multiple 911 calls that a man had been shot near a convenience store in the 13100-block of 104 Avenue. Police attended and located a 44-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

The Surrey RCMP General Investigation Unit has taken conduct of the investigation. Based on initial information it appears there was an altercation between parties believed to be known to each other, which escalated, and resulted in one man being shot. 

The investigation is still in the early stages and officers are working to collect evidence and identify possible suspects.
