Surrey RCMP say Amardip Rai has been arrested on his outstanding warrants. 

On January 20th of last year Surrey RCMP requested the public’s assistance with locating Amardip Rai who was wanted on 17 charges, including sexual assault, assault with a weapon and confining a person without lawful authority. In October 2022, Rai was featured in the top 25 wanted across Canada by the Bolo Program.

On Sunday, officers were able to confirm that Amardip Rai was inside a residence in the 17400-block of 64 Avenue. The residence was secured and a Feeney warrant was sought to enter the residence and arrest Amardip Rai.

The Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team assisted with executing the warrant and Amardip Rai was taken into police custody without incident.

He was transported to Surrey RCMP cells and remains in custody awaiting his next court appearance.

According to the victim, a black Hyundai sedan was driving closely behind him through the Massey Tunnel and both vehicles exited Hwy 99 on the Steveston Hwy off-ramp. The victim stated at this point, both he and the other driver stopped and exited their vehicles, which is when the driver of the Hyundai allegedly sprayed the victim with bear spray.

It says after a lengthy investigation by the department's major crime unit, three charges each of sexual assault and sexual interference have been laid against Pastor Edwin Alvarez. Police haven't released which Christian church the pastor was caring for, other than to say it was at a small, Metro Vancouver location.
