Police in Vancouver say they have made an arrest in the stabbing death of a 34-year-old man in the city's Downtown Eastside a year ago.

They say Stephen Crock was found on the sidewalk near East Hastings and Columbia suffering from stab wounds on November 21st, 2023.

Police say Crock was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.

They say the B-C Prosecution Service has now approved a second-degree murder charge against the 23-year-old man, and he will remain in custody until his next court appearance.

Data from Environment Canada has confirmed what winter sport enthusiasts have known for a while — December was warm in British Columbia. Five communities in the province set or equalled temperature records for the month while the warm weather, combined with a lack of rain or snow, has done little to ease ongoing drought concerns.
