COQUITLAM, B.C. - One man is in police custody following a residential fire near Como Lake Avenue and Schoolhouse Street in Coquitlam.

Emergency crews were called to the home shortly after 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Coquitlam RCMP say all residents were able to get out of the house safely, and there were no physical injuries.

The Mounties say it is believed the fire was intentionally set by someone who knew the occupants.

A 39-year-old Coquitlam man was arrested a short distance away from the home.

He's charged with one count of Arson - disregard for human life, and one count of possession of incendiary materials.
