B.C. Conservative Leader Recounts Close Call With Massive Grizzly Bear

The Canadian Press Darpan, 17 Oct, 2014 11:26 AM
KAMLOOPS, B.C. - The leader of B.C.'s Conservative Party says his political opponents seem a lot less threatening after a recent encounter with a massive grizzly bear.

Dan Brooks, who also works as a hunting guide, says he was hunting moose with an American client south of Vanderhoof earlier this month when they came upon what he thought was a pile of dirt.

Brooks says behind the mound, roughly 20 metres away, was a bear that suddenly charged at him and his client.

Both men fired off a round each into the ground, and the animal turned around and ran off.

Brooks says he later realized the pile of dirt was a dead moose, and the bear was guarding its kill.

He says the frightful encounter lasted about five seconds.
