BC Greens push for paid practicums for nursing students

The B-C Greens want the provincial government to create paid practicums for nursing students.

Leader Sonia Furstenau says that unlike tradespeople who, justifiably, receive paid apprenticeships and subsidized tools, nurses often come out of school with significant debt.

Paying nurses for their required practicums would reflect the value of their work and improve pay equity.

This is a small but important step towards creating a stable industry for #nurses and will ultimately deliver better #healthcare for British Columbians. 3/3 #bcpoli

Vancouver Police say an investigation is underway after a patient allegedly armed with a knife chased a doctor at BC Women's Hospital and tried to access a locked nursery as staff hid to protect themselves.
