The Canadian Press, 12 Sep, 2017 01:48 PM
HOPE, B.C. — Mounties are looking for the driver of a sport utility vehicle who stole a truck to leave the scene of a fatal crash on Highway 3 just east of Hope, B.C.

RCMP say the SUV travelling southbound hit a highway maintenance truck on Monday afternoon.

A woman in her 30s who was a passenger in the SUV died in the crash.

Police say the suspected driver escaped from the scene in a white Ford F350 truck that had been left unattended when a Good Samaritan stopped to help after the accident.

RCMP say the man travelled on to Hope, where officers found the stolen vehicle but lost track of him.

He's described as a Caucasian male, about five-foot-nine inches tall, slim build and was wearing tan-coloured shorts and a white and red motorcycle-style jacket.
