BC politicians react to Cdn US tariffs

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 03 Feb, 2025 11:40 AM
  • BC politicians react to Cdn US tariffs

B-C politicians are calling on the premier to do more as the province prepares to face U-S tariffs on Canadian goods.

City of Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke says she wrote to David Eby yesterday urging him to roll out a comprehensive relief package, similar to what was introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic, to support businesses and families.

Locke says the tariffs will put the city in a vulnerable situation since Surrey has the largest border crossing on the west coast and over 20 per cent of businesses have ties with the U-S.

B-C Conservative Leader John Rustad says his party has outlined a 10-point tariff response plan and is urging the N-D-P government to immediately put it in place to protect the provincial economy.
