BC temps to hit 30s this weekend

British Columbia's government is warning that temperatures are expected to reach the high 30s starting this weekend.

But Emergency Management Minister Bowinn Ma says a repeat of the 2021 heat dome that killed more than 615 people is not forecast.

🏞 28 of 34 water basins are at Drought L4 or L5 (highest concern).

🔥 ~400 active fire, 11 of note, 1.58m hectares burned.

🛌 660 ppl under evacuation order; 3990 ppl under alert.

She says the forecast for several days of hot weather is expected to dry out forests again and increase fire risks.

Ma adds the drought situation in B-C has reached the point where the government has plans to transport water to communities if needed.
