Darpan News Desk, 14 Mar, 2018 10:15 AM

Navjeet (Bob) Dhillon, today, announced a gift of $10 million at a breakfast in Calgary for the University of Lethbridge for the transformation of the school’s Faculty of Management.

A news conference in Lethbridge was planned for later in the day. The U of L Faculty of Management will now be renamed the Dhillon School of Business

Dhillon, a first-generation Sikh immigrant, began his business empire with the purchase and renovation of a pair of homes in Calgary. That led to the growth and development of his company, Mainstreet Equity Corp., into a portfolio of more than 11,000 rental apartments, and assets worth $1.63 billion.

“Everything I’ve made I’ve made in Canada,” Dhillon said. “This is an opportunity for me to give back to Canada. I want to give back to the greatest country in the world.”

The future of Canada depends on education… Education is what drives successful global nations and Canada is unique in that there is so much opportunity here. The U of L is a world-class university that the world needs to discover. The University of Lethbridge today announces the transformation of its Faculty of Management to the Dhillon School of Business, which will have a strategic focus on finance and business innovation. This school will make Western Canada a beacon of entrepreneurship and innovation. Dr. Bob Boudreau, dean of the Dhillon School of Business, says that both the Lethbridge and Calgary campus will offer the latest in hands-on training technology with a focus on integrating theory and research into practice. http://business.financialpost.com/news/fp-street/bob-dhillon-gives-back-with-10-million-donation-to-the-university-of-lethbridge
