Bodies Of Two Alberta Men Killed In Avalanche Near Prince George Recovered By Helicopter

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 23 Mar, 2015 12:01 PM

MCBRIDE, B.C. — The bodies of two men from Alberta killed in an avalanche near Prince George, B.C., on Saturday have been recovered.

RCMP Cpl. Dave Tyreman says the two victims were among three men hit by the slide when they were snowmobiling near the village of McBride in the Lower Dore Mountain Range.

Tyreman says a 29-year-old man from Ponoka and a 36-year-old man from Sherwood Park near Edmonton, were buried, while the third man managed to dig himself out.

An RCMP news release says one of the victims was dug out by two others but he didn't survive and the second victim couldn't be found.

The local search and rescue team determined conditions were too dangerous to attempt a search or recovery until Sunday, when the bodies were removed by helicopter.

The names of the dead men are being withheld. (The Canadian Press)
