Body found in Nelson

Police on Vancouver Island say a signal from an S-O-S device led them to find the body of a man who was last known to live in Nelson.

R-C-M-P say they received an S-O-S call from the device associated with the man early Tuesday morning, leading them to a makeshift campsite outside Port Alberni.

They say they found a campsite with what appeared to be recently felled trees and a small structure, along with a vehicle belonging to the 42-year-old man.

Police say they found his body a short distance away, and with no indications of foul play, his death is not considered suspicious

Rent inflation to slow in the next few years, Desjardins predicts

The rate at which Canadian rental prices are increasing should slow in the coming years as the government's plan to cut back immigration numbers takes hold, a new report from Desjardins says. Rents have been rising fast and rent inflation is "much higher" than increases in the price of owned homes, it said. Inflation of rented accommodation was 8.3 per cent in the third quarter of this year, "the fastest pace since the early 1980s."
