Body Of Northwest Territories Woman Found Off Side Of B.C.'s Coquihalla Highway

The Canadian Press, 25 Jul, 2018 10:58 AM
MERRITT, B.C. — A body found off the side of a busy British Columbia highway has been identified as belonging to a Northwest Territories woman.

RCMP in Merritt says relatives of the 29-year-old woman have yet to be notified, so they aren't releasing her name.

Police say in a news release that the woman had connections to the south Okanagan.

Merritt RCMP Staff Sgt. Lorne Wood says she had not been reported missing prior to her death.

A motorist stopped on the Coquihalla Highway found the body Sunday while taking a walk as traffic was held up because of an unrelated crash.

Wood says it's unclear how long the remains had been there but the victim did not appear to have been hit by a vehicle or have any serious injuries.
