  • Bosa Properties Commissions First Permanent Public Artwork by Alex Proba at PARKWAY in Surrey
November 20, 2025. Bosa Properties has unveiled new public art at PARKWAY, its latest master-planned community in Downtown Surrey, by globally recognized artist and designer Alex Proba.

Known for her vibrant, emotion-driven aesthetic and influential public art projects, as well as collaborations with global lifestyle brand HOKA, Proba brings her work to Canada for the first time through Sanctuaries of Belonging—a four-sculpture installation celebrating culture, community, and connection.

Proba was in conversation with Punjabi artist Keerat Kaur to ground the inspiration in her words and the symbolism, and emotion that speaks directly to the community. Woven throughout the work are poetic motifs drawn from Kaur’s poem Begumpura, including pomegranates and rubies—symbols of protection and abundance in Punjabi tradition—and are accompanied by bilingual inscriptions in English and Punjabi.

Standing up to 19 feet tall, each sculpture is handcrafted from reinforced fiberglass and finished with vibrant, weather-resistant pigments. The designs reference the textures and colors of Surrey’s natural environment, from Capilano granite to Douglas fir, and are anchored directly into the ground to appear as though they’ve grown organically from the landscape.

“Surrey is one of the most culturally vibrant cities in Canada,” says Dan Cupa, SVP, Residential. "Sanctuaries of Belonging captures that spirit, enlivening downtown and defining a space where people can meet, be inspired, and experience the excitement and connection of this growing community.”

Installed in the heart of PARKWAY’s public plazas, Sanctuaries of Belonging exemplifies Bosa Properties’ investment in meaningful public spaces and lasting cultural contributions. The developer’s four-tower masterplan will deliver over 2,000 new homes, local retail, and a 21,000-square-foot pavilion designed for food, art, and community events—positioning PARKWAY as a vibrant new cultural hub for Surrey.

But searchers for the snake had a reliable witness, and cool conditions last week in the area suggested it was unlikely the cold-blooded reptile could have slithered far from where it was seen in Miracle Beach Provincial Park, about 250 kilometres northwest of Victoria.
