Bullets Found On Couch, In Closet After Gunfire Sprays Suburban Halifax Crescent

The Canadian Press, 13 Feb, 2018 12:10 PM
LOWER SACKVILLE, N.S. — Police say four separate homes were hit with bullets after gunfire erupted on a suburban Halifax crescent on Monday afternoon.

They say bullets were found on a living room couch in one house in Lower Sackville, and in a closet in a neighbouring house.

The homes were not the apparent target — RCMP say they believe the occupants of a small black car had been targeted by the driver of a white Honda CR-V on Sunnyvale Crescent.

They say the Honda driver — described as a thin white man in his late 20s, wearing black clothing and white gloves — was first seen on foot and was carrying a handgun. Police say a white female in her 20s was with him in the car.

The small black car, described as having a loud exhaust, nearly collided with another car as it sped off onto nearby Beaverbank Road at about 1:45 p.m. Monday.

RCMP on Tuesday released a photo of two cars, including the targeted black car and a second car, believed to have possibly witnessed the shooting, and a map showing the four houses hit by bullets.

"I want to assure residents our members are actively working this investigation in the hope of identifying the persons responsible for this shooting. We need anyone to come forward who may have seen anything out of the ordinary leading up to the shooting or after it occurred," said Insp Kevin O'Blenis of the RCMP's Integrated Criminal Division.

"Those involved had a complete disregard for the safety of the public in this neighbourhood."
