Calgary Marriage Counsellor Charged With Sexually Assaulting Client

    CALGARY — Police have charged a Calgary couples therapist with sexual assaulting one of his clients.
     
    Staff Sgt. Steve Lorne says the alleged victim, a woman in her 30s, was seeing the accused with her husband for marriage counselling.
     
    The alleged assaults began after the husband stopped attending the sessions.
     
    Lorne says it began with inappropriate language and escalated to sexual contact.
     
    Johannes Kilian, who is 76 and a registered social worker therapist, has been charged with sexual assault.
     
    Kilian, who is originally from South Africa and immigrated to Canada 11 years ago, is scheduled to appear in court again on May 10.
     
    Police say the woman remains married to her husband.
