Canadians planning a summer getaway will once again be able to explore the country for less, as the Canada Strong Pass returns from June 19 to September 7, 2026, offering free admission and discounted access to some of Canada's most popular attractions and travel experiences.
First introduced in 2025, the federal initiative aims to make domestic travel more affordable while encouraging Canadians and international visitors to discover the country's cultural landmarks, natural beauty, and historic sites.
This summer, visitors can enjoy free entry to all Parks Canada-operated sites, along with a 25 per cent rebate on camping fees. The program also offers free admission for children aged 17 and under and 50 per cent discounts for young adults aged 18 to 24 at Canada's national museums, the Plains of Abraham Museum, and participating provincial and territorial museums and art galleries.
Young travellers can also benefit from savings on rail travel, with VIA Rail Canada providing free trips for children aged 17 and under when accompanied by an adult, as well as 25 per cent discounts for passengers aged 18 to 24.
The federal government says the initiative is designed to help ease the cost of travel for families and young adults while supporting tourism, local businesses, and cultural institutions across the country.
The program's inaugural year delivered encouraging results, with a 6.5 per cent increase in VIA Rail ridership, a 13 per cent rise in visits to Parks Canada sites, an average 15 per cent increase in attendance at national museums, and an average 6.3 per cent increase at participating provincial and territorial museums and art galleries.
Officials say the increased visitation demonstrates how domestic tourism can strengthen local economies while showcasing Canada's diverse landscapes, history, and culture to both Canadians and international visitors.
Unlike traditional travel passes, the Canada Strong Pass does not require a physical or digital card. Visitors simply need to arrive at participating locations to receive eligible discounts or free admission. However, reservations remain necessary for certain activities, including camping and VIA Rail travel, and bookings for summer 2026 are already available through partner websites.
Due to expected high demand, particularly for camping and national park visits, travellers are encouraged to plan ahead and reserve early.
The Canada Strong Pass is available to both Canadian residents and international visitors, making it an accessible way for everyone to experience Canada's parks, museums, galleries, and rail network throughout the summer season.
