Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 06 May, 2015 11:47 AM
PORTLAND, Maine — A Canadian man has been sentenced to 8 1/2 years in a U.S. prison for emailing images of child pornography to an undercover federal agent in Maine.

Federal prosecutors say 32-year-old Kevin Rockwell, of Leduc, Alta., was also sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court to 10 years of probation upon release.

He pleaded guilty in October to a charge of transporting child pornography.

Prosecutors say in April 2013 Rockwell sent an email from Canada to the undercover email account of a special agent with Homeland Security Investigations in Maine.

Attached to the email was a file containing 38 images of sexually explicit conduct involving young children.

Rockwell was indicted in May 2013. The federal justice minister ordered him surrendered to American law enforcement in May 2014.
