Charges approved in South Vancouver sexual assault

Darpan News Desk Vancouver Police, 26 Oct, 2020 09:23 PM
  • Charges approved in South Vancouver sexual assault

Crown counsel approved charges on Saturday against a Vancouver man after he was arrested last week by Vancouver Police following a sexual assault investigation.

“We made a plea for information last week after two separate sexual assaults in mid-October,” says Constable Tania Visintin, VPD. “The response from the public has been phenomenal. Investigators would like to thank everyone who called the tip line to help identify the suspect in such a disturbing file.”

Police allege that on October 16, a suspect approached a woman from behind and groped her. Another woman was groped in a similar manner on October 19.

Daniel Ghoukassian, 32, has been charged for one count of sexual assault in relation to the incident on October 19. The second incident continues to be under investigation.

In 2014, Ghoukassian was the suspect in three violent sexual attacks on a stranger in the Oakridge area.

He was charged and convicted for those offences and is a registered sexual offender. Ghoukassian is in custody until his next court appearance.
