  • Charges laid against man arrested after driver finds gun on Halifax bus

HALIFAX - Charges have been laid against a man arrested after police recovered a firearm on a Halifax public bus Thursday.

The arrest came hours after police received a report of someone walking along a downtown street with what appeared to be a rifle wrapped in black fabric.

Police say the 25-year-old man faces multiple charges, including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and carrying a concealed weapon.

They say he is due in provincial court today.

Police say they continue to investigate whether the firearm on the bus is related to the initial sighting of a man concealing a weapon.

They say there were no threats made to anyone and no shots were fired.
