Charges laid in investigation into New Westminster pier park fire

One person has been charged following an investigation into the Westminster Pier Park fire. As a result of the investigation, an arrest was made and a search warrant was executed in New Westminster.

The fire occurred on September 13, 2020 and engulfed the old-pier section of the riverfront greenspace. Detectives collaborated with members of the New Westminster Fire and Rescue Service during the course of their investigation.

49 year old Sean Warnick of New Westminster has been charged with:Mischief to Property – Section 430(3) of the Criminal Code of Canada; and Arson with Damage to Property – Section 434 of the Criminal Code of Canada.

Sean Warnick has been released from custody with conditions for an upcoming court appearance.
