Children Treated For Skin Conditions On Troubled Ontario Reserve

Darpan News Desk IANS, 24 Mar, 2016 11:48 AM
  • Children Treated For Skin Conditions On Troubled Ontario Reserve
OTTAWA — Children suffering from skin rashes in a northern Ontario First Nation community are being treated by a team of doctors sent to the reserve.

Three children in Kashechewan First Nation were taken from the community for medical treatment after they developed painful sores on their bodies.

This came after the images of the children were circulated widely on social media.

Thirteen other children were expected to be flown out for assessment and possible treatment, but physicians were able to assist them on the reserve.

The doctors have identified more than two dozen children with skin conditions that are believed to be eczema, scabies and possibly a case of impetigo.

Health Canada says the conditions were not caused by the water in the community.
