Chilliwack Man Arrested For Community Mailbox Thefts

The Canadian Press, 03 Sep, 2015 12:21 PM
CHILLIWACK, B.C. — A 47-year-old man from British Columbia's Fraser Valley has been charged with eight separate mail-theft offences.

Mounties say David McGill of Chilliwack has also been charged with possession of break-and-enter equipment and drugs.

They say McGill's blue pickup truck drew the attention of officers who were investigating mail thefts in the area.

Mounties say officers learned his truck had been spotted in Aggasiz early Aug. 28 and officers who followed up found damaged Canada Post community mailbox at one scene.

They say officers later stopped the truck and arrested McGill after following a "trail" of eight damaged community mailboxes.

McGill remains in custody and is expected to make a court appearance early this month.
