Chilliwack Triple Murder: Coroner's Reports Give Timeline To Four-Person Murder-Suicide

The Canadian Press, 19 Apr, 2016 11:59 AM
CHILLIWACK, B.C. — A new report says a British Columbia man who police believe confessed to killing his family in a Facebook post shot them 10 days before his own suicide.

B.C.'s coroners' service has released four reports that provide the timeline of events surrounding the 2015 deaths, which culminated in a fierce house fire in Chilliwack.

Police say 50-year-old Randy Janzen confessed to the killings in a May 7 Facebook post, that said he could no longer bear to see his daughter suffer from her migraines and that his wife and sister should not have to live with the shame that he has caused.

The coroner's reports use post-mortem findings and circumstantial evidence from Janzen's social-media post to conclude that he killed his 19-year-old daughter Emily Janzen and 56-year-old wife Laurel Janzen on April 28 last year.

The documents say Janzen's sister was found dead in her own home, having been shot twice in the head on May 5.

Another report says Janzen shot himself 10 days after his wife and daughter were killed.
