  • City of Surrey completes cleanup project

The City of Surrey says it has completed a cleanup project in the Nicomekl River in South Surrey.

It says abandoned or wrecked vessels, rafts and associated garbage was all pulled from the river.

In total, 11 industrial garbage bins were filled with debris and disposed of as well.

Federal Transport Minister Anita Anand says in a statement that the project is an example of taking action against environmental hazards.
