Collision in New Westminster leaves one dead

  • Collision in New Westminster leaves one dead

New Westminster Police are in the early stages of investigating a fatal single vehicle collision that occurred at approximately 6:40 am Wednesday on East 8th Avenue between Richmond Street and E Columbia Street. Traffic has been rerouted and drivers are asked to avoid the area.

The collision has caused a local power outage and city crews have been on scene.  If motorists encounter an intersection with no power, they are asked to treat the intersection as a four way stop.

First responders at the scene of the collision have had to take safety precautions, as there are live wires at the scene. 

“Police are in the early stages of this investigation,” stated Sergeant Leaver. “If you witnessed this collision or have dash-cam footage please reach out to police.”
