  • Coquihalla Highway northbound closed between Hope and Merritt, B.C.

The Coquihalla Highway is closed to northbound traffic between Hope and Merritt, B.C., due to a "vehicle incident."

The B.C. government says the incident happened between the Larson Hill and the Comstock Road exits, south of Merritt.

Brian Twaites, with B.C. Emergency Health Services, says they received a call around 5:10 a.m. and paramedics went to the scene, but no patients were brought to hospital.

DriveBC posted to its website around 6:30 a.m. saying an assessment "was in progress."

It says alternate routes are available on Highway 1 and Highway 3 until the road is reopened.

RCMP say in a statement that the northbound route will remain closed until further notice.
