Coroners Inquest Into 3 Mental Health Patients' Deaths After Abbotsford Hospital Stay

The Canadian Press, 19 Aug, 2015 11:44 AM
VANCOUVER — A coroners inquest will be held to examine the deaths of three patients who died shortly after leaving an Abbotsford, B.C., hospital.

The B.C. Coroners Service says each of them had been admitted to Abbotsford Regional Hospital for mental health issues a few days before their deaths.

Thirty-year-old Brian Geisheimer of Maple Ridge died in Mission on Dec. 28, 2014.

The other two patients, from Abbotsford, died separately on April 26.

Nineteen-year-old Sebastien Abdi died at his family home, while 41-year-old Sarah Charles died near her apartment building.

An inquest is slated to begin next May, when a coroner and a jury will hear evidence and make recommendations in an effort to prevent similar deaths in the future.
