  • Crash in South Surrey claims life of one and sends another to hospital

Surrey RCMP were on the scene of a crash in the South Surrey area.

On November 30th, 2021 at approximately 11:30 pm, the Surrey RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision in the 18100 block of 16 Avenue. 

BC Ambulance Service and Surrey Fire Department personnel attended and provided medical treatment to one of the drivers but they succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene 

A second victim was initially treated at scene and then transported to local area hospital in serious condition.

Surrey RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation TEAM (CCIT) and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS), is investigating this collision.

Traffic in the area was affected. 

Traffic on 16th Avenue was shut down at 176 Street to the West and 184 Street to the East.

 The man was arrested, and is currently in custody, with a court date on October 13, 2021. He is considered to be a prolific property crime offender.  Police have recommended a number of charges to Crown for consideration, including assault causing bodily harm and break and enter.
