UPDATE: The investigation is still continuing with crews on scene to look at the damage done to the Cambie Road overpass above BCHwy99 during yesterday's collision. A truck struck the overpass and southbound Hwy 99 remains blocked. The detour is down to the Shell Road exit.

EARLIER STORY:

Richmond RCMP is advising that the South bound lanes of Hwy 99 and the Cambie Road overpass are closed due to a commercial vehicle collision with the bridge deck.

Both roads will be closed for an unknown amount of time as engineers assess the damage to the overpass. Southbound travelers should detour by way of the No 4 Road or Shell Road exit off ramps. Northbound traffic on Hwy 99 is not affected at this time.

The scam was first reported to VPD on January 12, when a west-side couple in their 70s received a call from a man who claimed their nephew had been in a car accident and needed $8,000 to get out of jail. The fraudster then came to the victims’ home and picked up the money.
