Crown asks jury to find Luka Rocco Magnotta guilty in slaying of Jun Lin

    MONTREAL — The Crown is asking jurors to find Luka Rocco Magnotta guilty of first-degree murder and four other charges in the slaying and dismemberment of Jun Lin.

    Prosecutor Louis Bouthillier is making his final arguments to them today and is reiterating his belief the crime was planned and deliberate.

    The 32-year-old Magnotta has pleaded not guilty to murder and four other charges stemming from the 2012 slaying of the Chinese engineering student.

    He has admitted to causing Lin's death but is seeking to be found not criminally responsible by way of mental disorder.

    Bouthillier is taking the jury through specific details and a timeline of events he says suggests Magnotta was of sound mind before, during and after Lin's slaying.

    The jury heard a total of 66 witnesses over a 40-day period.

    While 14 jurors have heard the evidence, 12 will be chosen to hand down the verdict.
